Article: Voters reject D74 tax hike

Lincolnwood School District 74 voters Tuesday rejected a proposed education fund tax hike for the purposes of expanding technology.

Nearly 59 percent of Lincolnwood's voters rejected the tax hike bid. The unofficial final tally shows the tax hike proposal losing 1,347 to 955 votes.

"It was an uphill battle and we knew it would be," District 74 Superintendent John Cahill said. "I think the candidates who opposed the referendum and made that an issue hurt its chances."

But those candidates in favor of the tax hike were elected, while all the candidates against it lost.
