Article: 87-year-old native wins Days' grand prize

Northbrook's Vince White couldn't believe his ears Sunday night when he heard the name of the winner of the Northbrook Days grand prize - car or $30,000 - being called.

"I'm thinking I heard 'Alice Galati,' " he said. "Sweet 87-year-old lady who's always making cookies and soup for anybody who wants 'em. Boy, you couldn't find anybody better to give it to - better than giving all that money to a banker, huh?" Three recent winners of the grand prize have been bankers.
