As Jim Walsh drove down the dark tree-lined streets of Park Ridge on June 13, he was afraid that the streets would become crazy with rowdy residents celebrating the Chicago Bulls championship.
But that never happened.
Walsh, a member of the Park Ridge Citizens Patrol, drove his beat that night in the rain from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, but the streets north of Uptown remained quiet under a full moon.
"I can take snow and ice, but constant rain gets on my nerves," he said.
Earlier in the day, members of his patrol were called in by the Park Ridge police to help cordon off an area in front of the O'Hare Corporate Center on Higgins Road during a hold-up. Officers were afraid hostages had been ...
