Article: East Prairie picked for nature program

East Prairie School pupils in Skokie are closer to nature this year than many pupils their own age.

Because East Prairie is one of two schools in the Chicago area to participate in a new environmental awareness program, local pupils have the opportunity to study ecosystems at different times of the season.

"That our students really participate in hands-on experiences with nature is something we found very exciting," said East Prairie Principal Theresa Wheatley. "It's something we were very interested in because the program fit so well with our curriculum."
