Article: Oakton to open for winter

Drivers who have had to maneuver a narrowed Oakton Street since earlier this year can look forward to clear sailing, at least through the winter months, Skokie officials said this week.

Although work hasn't been completed on the project - part of the village's massive flood control program that has torn up pavement between McCormick Boulevard and Kilpatrick Avenue so far - barricades will be down within a couple of weeks, Village Manager Al Rigoni said Wednesday.

"The entire road will be free of barriers until next spring, when the last of the work will be completed," he said.
