Article: Gallagher: a legend in junior football

Seven U.S. presidents have come and gone in the time that he's spent in youth football.

When practices for this year's Little Giants football program began in mid-August, program coordinator/lightweight team coach Jim Gallagher entered his 30th season with the Park District of Highland Park.

"In terms of youth football, he's really an icon," said Phil Corona, the Park District's Travel Sports Supervisor.

Gallagher first joined the program in 1967 as a volunteer coach's assistant.
