Palatine resident Betty Hull received only 75 votes as a write-in candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives seat from the 8th Congressional District of Illinois, but it appears that she will still be the Democratic Party's nominee to oppose incumbent Republican Philip M. Crane.
Hull, an English professor at Harper College, needed 495 votes to be guaranteed the party's nomination, but Wheeling Township Committeeman Patrick Botterman blames confusion caused by maverick candidate Daniel Druck of Algonquin for Hull's low vote total.
The party sent a direct-mail brochure to likely Democratic primary voters introducing Hull and explaining the write-in voting procedures. Druck countered with ...
