Article: Springfield handout will fund district technology program

Schaumburg District 54 plans to use a $450,000 state education windfall to purchase additional equipment for a recently approved technology program.

The unexpected state revenues will be used to buy equipment and install infrastructure that will accelerate the district's $7.6 million technology program, which was approved earlier this year, said Controller Ric King.

School officials were making final adjustments to the district's proposed $133 million budget when the unexpected state revenues were announced last month. The General Assembly approved the handout in May, at the tail end of its most recent legislative session.
