Article: End of Woodland crunch near, but tough year ahead

Take 3,500 bodies and fit them into four buildings. Now take 5,053 bodies and fit them into the same four buildings without constructing any additions.

It may seem an impossible task, but Woodland Elementary District 50 has done it. For each of the last three years, Woodland's enrollment has increased by over 500 new students, but district building space hasn't increased one square foot.

On Aug. 26, over 5,000 students scrambled to their homerooms for the first day of class. Sitting at their desks, students are close but not uncomfortable.
