Brandon Clark lost his Japanese-English dictionary last week on a school field trip to the Field Museum in Chicago.
Normally, that wouldn't have been a big deal for the 11-year-old boy, who is learning to speak Japanese with his fellow students at the Montessori School of North Hoffman Estates.
But last week, the dictionary was a necessary tool to bridge the communication gap between Brandon and Yasuhiro Oribe. Yasuhiro is a young Japanese student who lived with the Clark family in West Dundee as part of a brief exchange program.
