Article: Carmel High graduate wins weight lifting title

Last month, Christie Lezon competed for her first and only time in the 1996 National Collegiate Power Lifting Championship and won in her class.

The Lake Zurich native went up against power lifters from all three military academies, the University of Texas, the University of Wisconsin, Boise State, and several other colleges from across the nation on March 23.

After all the lifting and straining and sweating down at Fort Hood, Texas, the 24-year-old came out on top in the 139-pound weight class, lifting a combined weight of 820 pounds in three categories.

"There's no bigger reward than to stand up and say I set out on a personal goal and I achieved it," Lezon said.
