Parents of gifted children in the northwest suburbs are launching a campaign against a provision in a proposed state education package that proposes funding education for the gifted through block grants instead of categorical grants.
The plan is part of education funding legislation proposed by Speaker of the House Lee Daniels, R-46th.
"We are opposed to this," said Mount Prospect resident Nancy Mohrbacher at a recent meeting of the Supporters and Advocates for Gifted Education (SAGE) at St. Paul Lutheran School.
