Lady, a Dalmatian with the Norwood Park Fire Protection District in Norridge, has been chasing fire trucks for seven years.

She is nothing like the Dalmatians in Disney's just-released movie "101 Dalmatians." She cannot turn on a coffee pot or open a door and she doesn't live with a family - she is a fire station dog - a protector of fire trucks.

She was given to the former Fire Chief Jack Stefanowicz one Christmas and the spotted dog has lived at the station ever since.

But area Dalmatian breeders say the dogs aren't for everyone.

"The dogs need to be trained," said veterinarian Patricia Cahill of the Park Ridge Animal Hospital. "The dogs in the movie had many hours of training.
