A food pantry which has been serving needy families in Oak Park and River Forest since 1976 needs to find a new home by Jan. 1.
The Hunger Task Force Food Pantry, sponsored by the Oak Park and River Forest Community of Congregations, has been operating out of a small space at Faith-Willard United Methodist Church, 171 N. Cuyler Ave., since it was founded by a local Girl Scout leader two decades ago.
But last Wednesday, church leaders called an "emergency breakfast meeting" of clergy and laity to announce they would no longer be able to host the food pantry program.
