He showed off the new family worship space at Christ Church in Lake Forest like a proud father of a newborn baby.

"Isn't this great?" asked David Weil, pastor of family ministry during a tour of the new structure on Friday.

Talking over the sound of electric drills and screwdrivers, Weil pointed to the corner stage where the action — the singing, dramatizations and Bible-based lessons — will take place.

"The grade school kids will flood in and sit on the floor. Their parents and younger siblings will sit on the risers," he said, looking around at the blue carpet, maroon-colored bleacher-style seating and yellow walls in the lower-level room.
