The Lake County judicial system is a unique structural organization. There is a separately organized Lake County Superior Court system. Some of the judges in the Superior Court are elected, but the majority are appointed through the merit system. I want to address a weakness in the organization of the Lake County Superior Court.
I am certain that the report on the Lake County court system being done by the National Center for State Courts will focus to a great extent on the weakness inherent in the position of chief judge.
