Article: Science labs, more space set for three high schools

The High School District 211 School Board approved last week the design for the second phase of a planned $53 million in construction upgrades.

Three of the district's five schools will gain new classrooms, science labs, music rooms and handicapped accessibility features such as elevators.

A facility study commissioned by the board in February 2006 found that space in Conant, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg high schools had not kept pace with enrollment, educational or technology needs.

Richard Cozzi of ARCON, chief architect of the project, and Steven East, District 211's director of purchasing and facilities, restated those findings at last week's board meeting.
