HUNTLEY - Carol Barton's three grandchildren easily could walk to the Huntley Park District's pool.
Barton, though, does not allow it because getting to the pool means crossing the congested Illinois 47.
She puts the children in a car if they are going to the park or the pool, she said.
"Even though we're so close, I feel safer putting them in the car," Barton said.
Now, people in her neighborhood are worried about residential streets becoming dangerous as the village determines where to direct truck traffic off Illinois 47 during a construction project slated for this summer.
