Article: Jacobs 40, Crystal Lake South 38 Golden Eagles hang on for improbable win

CRYSTAL LAKE - Jacobs certainly didn't take the conventional route to victory Monday. The Golden Eagles failed to make a field goal in the fourth quarter, managed only three points in those final eight minutes, shot 28 percent from the field for the game and yet still managed to emerge with a 40-38 win against Crystal Lake South. On top of all that, a controversial basket credited to Jacobs at the first-half buzzer proved to be the difference in what was a defensive slugfest.

Afterwards, the game's ugly details didn't keep the Golden Eagles from reveling in their 11th straight win. The victory was also Jacobs' second straight on the road to start Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play ...
