Article: Life Lines: Mapping out some interesting questions

You've got to give them credit. They sure know how to create news from thin air. The pollsters, I mean. Recently one group reported that many teenagers could not find Louisiana or Iraq on a map. Many well-intentioned but obviously teenager-free adults expressed immediate outrage. If I may, let me help to calm them down a bit.

First of all, they need only visit a teenager's room. The poor kids are unable to locate the clothes hamper 3 feet from their bedroom door; they cannot find their dresser drawers with a pile of clean clothes despite said drawers being left open constantly; they are unable to locate half of their textbooks before the bus has pulled away without them; and they cannot find ...
