When it comes to entertaining children, poetry is rarely at the top of the list. Video games, movies, TV, sports and toys all come to mind.
But that doesn't mean that poetry doesn't have a place in a kid's world.
In fact, former Naperville resident Stephanie Hemphill thinks poetry is becoming popular again among younger generations.
"It's becoming a lot bigger. I think it's kind of hip," said Hemphill, whose first novel, "Things Left Unsaid" was released in 2005 and won a 2006 Myra Cohn Livingston Award for Excellence in Poetry by the Children's Literature Council of Southern California.
