When the holiday tree goes up around Thanksgiving time, it enhances the feeling of festivity in the house and can make the season feel longer. But a freshly cut tree is a living thing. To keep its branches perky and needle loss in check, take these extra steps.
nIf you're not setting it up immediately, store the tree in a sheltered spot outside, in the garage or on a cool porch until decorating day arrives. Direct sunlight and wind will accelerate the drying-out process.
