Runny nose. Itchy eyes. And sneezing.
Allergy season is rapidly approaching and nearly 50 percent of the U.S. population will suffer from some form of allergies this year, said Dr. Anthony Daddono, an allergist at Lake Forest Hospital.
While scientists don't know why some people are sensitive allergens, they do know the ways in which the body reacts to them.
Daddono said there are several ways to detect the onset of allergies, or what is sometimes referred to as hay fever.
With pollen levels reaching their peak in Lake County at an index of 6.7 on a 12-point scale, it is a good chance allergy sufferers will have their first symptoms within the next few days.
