The house: Cunnea house - Castle Apartments, 706 E. Washington St., Morris.
Why it's important: This is one of the most impressive homes in Morris. It is the only residence in Morris built of flat Bedford stone similar to the courthouse. It was the home of two influential families before becoming a hospital and then an apartment building.
Style: The house was designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. This is seen in the massive proportions of the stonework.
The history: Hiram Mallory sold lots one and 10 to William Hammell and Aaron Sears for $1,200 in 1859.
George and Catherine Cunnea bought the lots from Benjamin Sears in 1897 for $1,500 and they built the house.
