Article: CTA threatens to cut Skokie Swift

Mayor George Van Dusen learned about the CTA's recent threat to discontinue the Skokie Swift line through a news ticker he saw at the bottom of his television screen.

"It certainly got my attention," said Van Dusen.

It also made him angry.

"If there's anything that infuriates me about this, it's that we didn't get advanced word," Van Dusen said. "To not give us a heads up I found infuriating."

A proposal released by new CTA President Ron Huberman last week calls for a significant hike in single-ride fares and monthly passes as well as suspension of the Skokie Swift and Evanston Express lines.
