County to begin push on seat belts The Kane County Sheriff's Office will launch an "enforcement blitz" over Memorial Day weekend aimed at encouraging drivers to buckle up.

Although compliance checks suggest 88 percent of Kane County's drivers are using their seat belts, the department would like to get that figure as close to 100 percent as possible, a news release stated. Patrol officers will issue tickets in enforcement of Illinois' mandatory seat belt law, which requires drivers, front passengers and passengers younger than age 16 to use restraints.
