Editor's note: Phil Seeberg is a Naperville Sun Checkout Line columnist who recently observed the passing of his uncle Edwin Traisman, a developer of Cheez Whiz. Seeberg contributes this column in his memory. 'Who would ever want to go out for a hamburger? You can have hamburgers at home." It was with these words that my father (supposedly) gave up an opportunity to be part of the McDonald's franchise with family 50 years ago. He had an aunt and uncle, Betty and Sandy Agate, who opened the second McDonald's. That was in May 1955 in Waukegan.
