If one person's junk is another person's treasure, then one person's alley is another person's garden.
And Fena D'Ottavio's alley is both a garden and a treasure chest.
D'Ottavio, an avid gardener, moved into the apartment building at 7 W. Campbell in November. Her new home had no garden or back yard, but an alley ran between her building and the restaurant next door. With no yard to beautify, the alley caught her eye.
It consisted of a 6-foot-wide paver brick walkway with dirt on either side where a few plants struggled to survive.
"It made me sad," said D'Ottavio, who owns Primo Painting & Decorating. "I couldn't stand it."
