All but eliminated by Second Vatican Council, the traditional Catholic Latin Mass is poised to make a comeback. Pope Benedict XVI is expected to announce a decree today allowing for easier practice of the Tridentine rite, or traditional Latin Mass.

The move is expected to appease ultraconservatives, who preferred the old ways, but might also upset more liberal Catholics fearful of a reversion to pre-Vatican II practices.

But don't expect Catholic services ...
