Article: Aurora man sets bike-riding record

BURR RIDGE - George Hood has smashed a world record. And this time, it's already official.

Hood, an Aurora resident, finally climbed off his exercise bike at Five Seasons Sports Club for the final time around 10 p.m. July 14, finishing with 111 consecutive hours. That smashed Denmark's Brian Overkaer's previous record of 82 hours by more than a full day.

"It's been tough, but it's been worth it," Hood said. "We've accomplished a heck of a lot."

Along with setting a new world record, Hood was referring to his charity work with Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Kiwanis Club to benefit the Twin Lakes Camp. He already has helped raise almost $20,000 for that cause.
