Article: Caucus Party reaches 50th year

Since 1965, the Skokie Village Board has been made up of members of a single party, an unprecedented success story in local politics.

That's the Caucus Party, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and seems not to have lost any of the strong support it has achieved over decades.

During this unblemished 42-year run, in which not a single Caucus Party candidate has lost a seat on the Village Board, the village has elected three mayors, two village clerks and 26 trustees all slated by the same party. The ruling Caucus Party has been re-elected 12 consecutive times.
