Article: A sitting position to avoid

Often I see children in a sitting position that can cause or be the cause of numerous problems. It is a position which I see not just in the children that I treat, but also in children in parenting magazines, advertisements or out in the community.

This position is called "W-sitting," which is when a person is in a kneeling position. But instead of their buttocks resting on their heels, their feet are on either side of their body, forming a "w." I am often asked why this sitting position is not good. The answer is more complex than you might think.
