Article: Absence of common sense a sign of changing times

Not long ago, I heard a woman say that minorities had a right to health care, and not only that, but "quality health care." I didn't get a chance to discuss this matter with her, which is a pity, because I might have learned something.

But how the world has changed. Maybe that's good; maybe it isn't.

Time was, in Depression-era Gary, where I spent my formative years, that none of us thought we had a right to much of anything except what was spelled out in the Constitution. I've read that magnificent document and find nothing in it about health care.

Maybe I should call my congressman's attention to this oversight.
