Chicago Heights police charged more

than 20 individuals last week with attempting to buy drugs during an

undercover sting operation in the 1300 block of Wentworth Avenue.

to 9 p.m. on Nov. 16, according to Lt. David Basile, about 20 officers

participated in the busts, 10 of them posing as undercover dealers and 10

of them stationed in squad cars nearby. Police sold fake marijuana and

crack cocaine to buyers.

After the transactions, the officers stationed

in nearby squad cars picked up the buyers, charging them with local

ordinance violations for attempting to solicit drugs. In addition to the
