I'm not sure if it's politically correct for a person who has spent over half a lifetime being Jewish to designate Christmas Eve as a magical night.
But that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Now, there are a lot of things I discovered after my change in religious affiliation, some of which opened my eyes to inequities that I might not have otherwise become aware of in as personal a way.
And my children have benefited immensely from the exposure to multiple religious traditions that came about when my Irish Catholic Ryan clan joined up with my husband's Russian/Polish Jewish family. But come this Monday night, as it has for every Dec. 24th in the half-century I've been around, I will be lost ...
