Laura Scheidt used to buy those tiny plastic bags and put snack
foods inside, creating the perfect, healthy and portion-controlled snack.
The 100-calorie snack craze, which has cornered the market, has saved
Scheidt the time. The craze also has created a range of choices for
dieters, even the Girl Scouts of the USA has a 100-calorie snack pack with
its new Cinna-Spin cookies.
"I think the 100-calorie snacks are good," said Scheidt, who leads a
weekly Weight Watchers meeting in South Elgin. "It limits your serving
size. Instead of digging into the big bag of chips or cookies, there are
reasonable portion sizes."
