Article: Beverly Arts Center artist creates every day

It seems that artist Laura Kleinhenz's teachers knew that giving her

a challenge helped inspire her to produce great works of art.

Kleinhenz, 24, now a graphic designer for the Beverly Arts Center in

Chicago, was given her first artistic challenge when she was a

student at Queen of Peace High School. For one assignment, Kleinhenz

chose to create an image of her dog.

She intended on using the stippling technique (using many small dots)

to create her dog's nose, when her teacher broadly hinted that

stippling the entire work was a better idea. At first, Kleinhenz

resisted the hint, overwhelmed at creating an entire portrait only

using small dots, but eventually, she accepted the challenge.
