Purdue University researchers have praised Lake County Jail officials for their handling of an August 2006 outbreak of the virulent skin disease known as MRSA, Sheriff Roy Dominguez said Monday. The Aug. 10 outbreak prompted a 48-hour quarantine of all prisoners at the jail and diversion of Lake County arrestees to Porter County jail, among other moves that prevented the disease from spreading, states the report by a group led by former state Court of Appeals judge Linda Chezem.
