The bitter cold that gripped the area earlier in the month did not deter supporters of Lyric Opera of Chicago. Not only did they flock to the Lyric Guild Board's "Carnivale!" the evening of Feb. 3, but they filled the Civic Opera House in record number. Six hundred and ten attendees broke all previous records for this 23rd annual winter party.
The evening included grazing on specialties of top Chicago restaurants in a decidedly tropical atmosphere.
Tablecloths from BBJ Linen were in tones of red, punctuated with gold, with mammoth vertical glass centerpieces filled with citrus and festooned with tropical leaves. The lobby of the opera house was flooded with red lights, causing the leaves in ...
