It's too bad that Ha Ha Tonka isn't the biggest thing to come out of
West Plains, Mo. Porter Wagoner holds that title.
But Ha Ha Tonka (named after a Missouri state park in the Ozarks) is
making a mark in its own right.
The band, on Chicago's Bloodshot Records, is touring behind its
latest release, "Buckle in the Bible Belt," and will perform Thursday
at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., Chicago, as an opener for Ludo.
"We're somewhere between indie rock and traditional folk and
bluegrass sounds," vocalist and guitarist Brian Roberts said.
"We focus on a regional storytelling of the people and places and
