The Illinois gaming industry is fighting an almost losing battle in
trying to stay competitive with casinos in surrounding states, namely
Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri.
This is primarily because of tighter resgtrictions imposed by the
state in governing casino's operations.
What concerns those in the Illinois gaming industry the most is the
recent drop inrevenues.
Illinois casinos raked in less money in January than they did at the
same time a year ago, and many industry observers pin most of the
blame on the new statewide ban on indoorsmoking.
Adjusted gross receipts for the nine operating casinos totaled about
$131 million in January, according to recently ...
