Article: Flip for French pancakes

Those ready-made crepes stashed in the produce section of Jewel-Osco, Dominick's and Whole Foods are evidence that we Americans are:

A) lazy.

B) want convenience AND a French experience at home since the plunging dollar means we won't get to France until 2036.

C) demanding that our chain supermarkets look more like European boutiques with offerings from around the globe.

Local crepe experts agree the answer is B and C.

"The funny part is in Brittany, where crepes are from, and really every supermarket in France, [there are] one to 100 different kinds of packaged crepes on the shelf," says Jeremy Roignant, who with his father, Germain, runs the 36-year-old La Creperie, 2845 N. Clark. ...
