Tinley Park High School senior Mike Witkowski remembers being

terrified of the water when he was little.

"My mom got me started in age-group swimming with the Tinley Park

Sharks at age 7," Witkowski said. "It has been a great experience,

like being part of a family. I'm going to Eastern Illinois University

in the fall and I want to keep swimming. I've got a couple of friends

who go to EIU. I still have the passion to be in the sport. It's a

great cardio fitness workout."

Witkowski, who owns a 3.5 grade-point average, wants to major in

physical education with hopes of being a high school teacher/swimming

coach in the future.
