JOLIET - The University of St. Francis baseball team has not reigned supreme in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference since 1997.
The Saints looked to change that Thursday night at Silver Cross Field, where they were hoping to gain no less than a share of their first league crown in 11 years against longtime rival Saint Xavier, which took an 18-12 lead into the ninth inning.
USF (35-7, 15-1) looked to take care of business early with the runs coming as steady as the early inning rainfall.
