B'nai Tikvah will bring a taste of Israel to Deerfield on May 18 -- complete with camel rides -- in celebration of Israel's 60th anniversary.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the synagogue, 1558 Wilmot Road. The event is free.
"It's a celebration that we want to extend to everyone in the community," said Ritual Director Rachel Rosenberg. "It's an extra-special birthday this year."
Camel rides
Activities will include rides on camels, brought in from Wisconsin, as well as Israeli dancers, Israeli food, a mock boot camp like what Israeli soliders go through and more.
The celebration will open with a re-enactment of Israel's Declaration of Independence, which took place May 14, 1948 ...
