Beware of that "new shower curtain smell." Shower curtains made with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) contain more than 100 volatile organic compounds, which are potentially toxic to consumers, according to a study released Thursday by the environmental group Center for Health, Environment and Justice.

The CHEJ group said the chemicals might lead to adverse effects including eye irritation, headaches, nausea, allergic skin reaction, vomiting, dizziness, liver and kidney damage and loss of coordination.
