Good thing it was chilly.
If it hadn't been, Pete Kadens might never have met Troy McCollough, and their heartwarming experience of one stranger helping another would not have happened.
But it was, and they did, and their chance encounter continues to have a profound effect on both men.
Their story, which made headlines and blogs around the world, started in April when Pete, a 30-year-old entrepreneur, was sitting in his car in the 1200 block of West Lake Street at 6:45 a.m., waiting for the doors to open at a seminar.
Troy, a middle-age homeless man, was shivering on the sidewalk, waiting for the doors at StreetWise to open so he could get his stack of newspapers to sell.
