By Tim O'Brien Correspondent Even though game time was pushed back 40 minutes Tuesday morning, Brother Rice was not about to let its bats cool off. A scheduling mix-up resulted in Brother Rice's opponent, Prairie Ridge, showing up late. The Crusaders' timing, however, was excellent during opening action in the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association's state tournament. Playing small ball, Brother Rice stole eight bases and slapped out nine hits in an 8-3 win over Prairie Ridge in the first round of pool play at Benedictine University.
