Sonic may be opening its first Chicago area restaurant today in Aurora with Kanye West's Fatburger coming close on its heels in Orland Park, but discerning Sun-Times readers agree with me.

We're holding out for Steak- Shake in Chicago.

Sure, Steak- Shake has plenty of suburban locations, but what good will any of them do someone working downtown for lunch. Not a bit of good, that's what.

I'm afraid I've got my work cut out for me, though, if this is going to become a campaign. Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert has been writing about the absence of Steak- Shake in Chicago as far back as 1977, and if they're not going to listen to him, they're sure not going to listen to me.
