Mary Seminara Schostok's dream of becoming a state appellate court judge has finally become a reality.
Schostok, a Libertyville resident and former Lake County circuit judge, was appointed recently by the Illinois Supreme Court to a position on the Illinois Appellate Court's Second Judicial District. She started her new duties as an appellate court justice on Monday.
Schostok fills a vacancy on the court created by the retirement of Judge Barbara Gilleran Johnson, a former Lake County judge who retired from the appellate court effective Aug. 13. Schostok is now the only judge from Lake County on the appellate court.
